M5 single speed lowracer
This is a beautiful picture of M5 lowracer prepared for breaking a world one hour record. It is already some time since Aurélien Bonneteau broke it by 50,529 km on 15th May 2009 but we have found this picture right today and we think that it is really nice.
Just to mention that Aurélien trained only 5 months on recumbent. He was road race cyclist before. Real hero.
Let´s visit his page on aurelienbonneteau.free.fr (only in French)

Couple of new world records
I think that you have already red about this unbelivable weekend in US. During the Ford Human Powered Challenge couple of new world records has been set up. For us, two are the most important and visible. Man and woman one hour record.
Sam Whittingham (Canada) did 90,724 km
Barbara Buatois (France) 82.235 km

No commentsNew web and blog from AZUB BIKE
AZUB has alredy had a new web presentation on SPEZI with the domain www.azub.eu but they also added a blog which refers about bikes of their customers. Even in such a short time you can find many nice bikes there and also some stories. There was also a similar blog on Challenge web page but it is already not there and the blog itself seems to be dead.

Vaniczka streamilner
In the post about the K24 race in the Czech Republic you could read about a home made streamliner built by Nink. In the following gallery you can see couple of pictures of this unique and nice bike. Couple of points are really interesting. The front part shape is made from plastic children bath. The bike is equiped with side light as same as extremely strong front and rear LED lights. The sight light you can see next to the mirror and its controllers are mounted on the bars. The bike also has a “pee system”, because it is not easy to get on and get off and during such race you have to save as much energy as possible. The little tube going outside the shell just above the rear wheel is part of this system as same as the black bowl inside the bike.
The builder of this bike and many other is an aviation engineer so he has close relationship with aerodynamics and speed. His next project should be a fully faired carbon fibre recumbent.

No comments24 hours race in the Czech Republic
Last weekend there was a 24 hours race in Ujezd in Czech Republic called K24. About 20 recumbents were participating incl. some pretty interesting ones. You could see there a Duo Quest driven by Ymte Sijbrandij and Allert Jacobs from Velomobiel.nl as same as Natrix2 and its owner Evina Navratilova. Among others there was also a homebuilt streamliner called Vaniczka 1st from Honza Friedl (Nink) and some other bikes which he has built and at the moment they have different owners. You could see also pretty much AZUB recumbents inlc. AZUB Eco and two prototypes of their HighRacer project which is quite quiet at the moment.
Finally the winner among women was Evina Navratilova with almost 454,4 km and Ymte with Allert were recumbent winners with 624,8 km. The absolute winner did 681,6 km what is perfect result under such difficult conditions.

It was raining almost all the time so during the night many racers slept and their bikes were parked outside. You can see many recumbents here.

Probably the bravest guy at the race. Pavel had only common clothes even in the heaviest rain and he did almost 450 km with his AZUB Max. Expect the Duo Quest the fastest man on recumbent.
