AZUB trike projects

Here is a press release from AZUB BIKE introducing their new AZUB trike which will be launched in 2010.

Uhersky Brod, Czech Republic, November 25th – press release

Since 2000 AZUB has been developing only recumbent bikes and as a brand it is pretty well known as a producer of durable recumbents which are ready for use in the most difficult conditions which can appear not only on expeditions around the world but also in the city while commuting.

In spring 2009 we started to develop a trike which would fit into our line of recumbents and which would offer all the advantages as our other bikes, like the IPS – Ideal Position System, durability, good design and perfect ergonomy.

At the moment we are working on two different trike projects which we suppose to introduce during the year 2010 when AZUB will celebrate 10 years of recumbent experience. The first one should fit into our ECO line of basic recumbents with affordable price, good quality components and good comfort. We suppose a price around 1700 EUR.

Second project will probably appear later in production, and will fit among our high level bikes like AZUB MAX. Not all features are decided, couple of solutions are still under development, but we are pretty sure that the trike will have unusual system of folding and many other clever features.

This trike project has been developed in cooperation with Technical University in Brno, Czech Republic, with use of the high end computer technologies.

We are very happy that one of the prototypes has already survived a hard test during 8 weeks long expedition around Iceland and western part of Europe. Our friend and actualy also a test rider Brona Nagel (64) cycled over 6000 km during this period and he came back with a fully functional trike and with many ideas how to improve it. At the moment we are working with him to change his ideas into reality and to introduce a perfect trike.

Velomobile from Poland

We have found some pictures of new velomobile which is developed by Maciej Kaczmarek from Poland. Maciej has already have some experiences with recumbents and recumbent fairings mostly from composites, so it is not that big surprise that he is working on velomobile. This one seems to be at least in two prototypes with pretty nice design, specific place for front and rear lights as same as side lights. The interesting thing is that the red unit has a steering wheel instead of bars. We will see, how the development will continue and how the production will look. Also the final price will be important, of course.

Russian recumbent homebuildres – Velodreamers

h5

I have the feeling that we often look at those beautiful expensive bikes, we dream about them, some save money to can buy them. We admire all those crazy speeds which you can reach in fully faired recumbents or velomobiles. But most often we just dream…

But russian guys who stands behind the velodreamer.com do not only dream about such bicycles, but they work to change their dreams into reality. And if you look into gallery here under, you see that they have built many different projects and they fullfiled many of their dreams.

Yes, you can see that the bikes are equiped by very poor components and also te look is not one which we would really admire, but what we can admire is that they do what they obviously love and that they can test their maximum speeds in homemade streamliners.

Let´s follow them, let´s fullfil any of your dreams…

This is probably the most interesting page from their huge web.

Cyclevision from inside of the streamliner

This is incredible video from Cyclevison. I am mostly impressed by the shots from inside of the streamliner no. 4 and how the bike lean in curves. Simply beautiful.

Well, this is not my video, but I could not find it elswehere on youtube or here on vimeo. I found it on russian web, but it seems it is not their video too. If there is anybody who knows more, please leave a message in comment. At least some parts were shot by xl-network.com (a youtube account here).

car_shaped_bike

Just a small funny post about a recumbent which looks as an old Cadillac. This creation was built for Toronto Cycle Show. More info here.
