Eric Birkhauser is a designer with open mind and with amazing projects he is working on. The last one is the ZIPcycle. A lowracer recumbent with rear fairing. As usually, also this concept looks very nice and has the kind of “automotive” design people like. As I told, his mind is open so he is not only thinking about a bike, but he is thinking about bike share program. This is probably the first recumbent bikes share program idea on the world

His bicycle parking lot is named HELIOtrope and it uses a Sun to charge batteries of the ZIPcycles hanging on the construction. The other revolutionary idea is to produce the ZIPcycle not from glass or carbon fiber as would be common now, but to produce enough big volume of them so they can be produced out of aluminum the same way as the car body.

Sure, as you look at the concept, there are tons of problems. The lowracer is not really suitable for riding in the city. Recumbents are not really that popular among people so one can even think of recumbent bicycle program etc. etc. But many new ideas have started with projects people thought were absolutely impossible to use in the future and look where we are now.

We received an invitation to Slovene recumbent meeting which will be organised in September from Peter. You can read it here under. At least from videos and pictures it seems to be a very nice meeting with very friendly atmospehere. Recommended for visit.

Hello recumbent cyclists!

Time is running and soon we will have September again. This year we will already have a 6th recumbent meeting in Slovenia. Again in Terme3000 as it is the best choice for whole families, even if only daddy will cycle.

A new recumbent shop opened just few days ago in Konstanz in Germany. It is connected to the Radieschen shop in Freiburg and will offer a wide range of recumbents such as AZUB, HP Velotechnik, Catrike or Hase.

The shop looks very nice and seems to be pretty large, at least from the pictures you can see here.

Every time I visit ukrainean recumbent page called www.velodreamer.com I am surprised by their projects and the way how fast they can change their ideas to reality.The main man behind the page is Alexey Ganshen and his wife Karina Achmedova has made few nice recumbent cartoons. She writes on the page, that she admire Varna streamliners and that Sam and Barbara are her idols. That´s why you can see so many streamliners of Varna shape on her cartoons.

The recumbent meeting in year 2011 will be organized in Czech Paradise in a small town Příhrazy near the city Mnichovo Hradiště not far from Prague. Meeting will be organised from Thursday 9th of September till Sunday 11th September, but you can come even sooner.

Programm
We plan to do couple of nice trips together which will go through the near countryside. (more in the Programm).

Evenings
Every evening there will be some slide shows or recumbent movies presented.

Registration
You can find Registration section on this web with a little larger on-line register form. Please fill it completely, add your picture with recumbent and choose the days you will participate. All that will help us to organise the meeting as smooth as possible. In the register form there is also a possibility to choose the past Czech Recumbent Meetings you have been participated in last years. Based on that a table of participants will be available. We hope that you will enjoy such feature.

Car Sharing
We understand that for many of you it is a long journey from your home to Czech Republic nad back and also the bike can be pretty big complication. That is the reason why we would like to help you out to find somebody who can offer some space in the car as same as we would like to help you to car owners to fill their empty spaces. If you will have some space in your car for other participants and/or for their bikes, please fill as much information as possible into the register form, like your route, date you plan to go there and back, number of places for persons or bikes, your contact info and so on. All these informations will be listed in Car Sharing section of our web.

Accommodation
Every participant has to book the accommodation. Organisers will help only in some special situations, when their help will be needed. There will be enough place for tents in the campsite. All needed information you will find in Accommodation section of this web. We recommend to do the booking as soon as possible, because the beds are usualy reserved very soon.

Updating your info
If you need to update your register form later, it is pretty easy by Login button at the end of the menu. The register form will open again and your info can be changed. If anything is not working, please contact the organisers.

This year I am organising a 5th recumbent meeting in Slovenia that will be held in Moravske Toplice. It will be different than all the meetings before as we will be stationary on one location for three days. tent in a camp: 14,40€/person per day, all day swimming included, without sauna (+6€ for breakfast and +7,50€ for dinner)

bungalows / cottages 3*: 30€/person in a double bed bungalow including selfs ervice breakfast and dinner, includes all day swimming

hotel Termal 4*: 44€/person in a double bed room, includes breakfast and supper with unlimited swimming pools usage and sauna world!
