really fat tyres

trisled-workbikefat

On the web page of Trisled we have found an interesting picture of the work bike built as a recumbent quad. Well, only the information about cargo quad would be interesting enough, but they also offer it with 4″ fat tyres. The look of the bike is really impressive. They recommend it for agricultural use, because the fat tyres do not demage the grass. But one would said that this machine can be almost used for winter race in Alaska called Iditarod. don´t you think?

recumbent submarine

subhumanproject-recumbent-submarine

Ted Camillo is one of those guys who straight follow their goals from the first manner till the realisation. For us, he stands next to Greg Kolodziejzyk and his adventures. Right now, Ted is developing human powered submarine and he wants to cross the Atlantic ocen in it. If you want to know more info about his project, please, visit official web of Subhuman Project or read an article in New Scientist

Recumbent dealers around the world 3.

The last set of recumbent dealers is here. We will add one more only in case you send us some recommendations. This time we show you shops from eastern Europe, Asia and Australia.

SLOVENIA – It is the most developed country among so called “new EU countries” and it is pretty small. So you cannot be surprised that only one recumbent dealer is there. Peter Ostervesnik runs his  Udobnoposvetu (it means something like: “comfortably around the world”) and in his offer you can find wide range of recumbents and trikes from european producers. He has started with AZUB recumbents about three years ago and he also ride his AZUB HardCore together with Nazca Fuego. His web page is nice to see even if you do not understand.

HUNGARY – Near to hungarian capital Budapest in village called Budakalasz you can find the best recumbent shop east from Germany with plenty of high end US and EU recumbents together with their cheaper versions. The shop was founded about three years ago too and has quite a lot of interesting projects as a promotion. If you go around, try to visit them or look at  A.M. Bringa

Let´s go far more eastern to south Asia and than continue south. We cannot provide much comments about following shops but if you wonder how look web pages of asian and australian web pages let´s continue reading and clicking.

SOUTH KOREARecumbent Korea -  This web page can look a little bit strange (mostly because of the language) but it seems that there are quite some informations and also some blogs around. We wonder how much bikes they sell per year…

JAPANCycletech is quite known shop which has been already working for many years. They are mainly interested in folding bikes but also quite some recumbents are in their offer. It is pretty strange that no real recumbent producer is there so most of the bikes have to be imported from eithr US or Europe.

AUSTRALIATri Sled is mainly known as a producer of very fast velomobiles, but they have also some recumbents improted from Europe in their offer.

Recumbent dealers around the world 2.

Here is the next batch of recumbent dealers. Today we will introduce you some Scandinavian dealers and some other from rest of  Europe.

DANMARK – There are not many recumbent dealers in this country which we can call “bicycle country”. As many of you knows it is a home of Leitra – very interesting trike/velomobile. We have chosen a Cykel-Optimisten. They have quite nice web page with quite some explanations (we could see some pictures, but did not understand anything).

FINNLAND – Keijo Kansonen, the owner of Sähköpyörät, is  pretty funny guy with big knowladges about recumbents and also cruisers. His bussiness is quite wide and he is dealing not only with recumbents and trikes, but also with Yerba Mate and some kind of wind mills. His shop is located in Helsinki in huge building with many other companies in third or fourth floor and you will feel a little bit lost there, among all those bikes, but we think you will like it afterward.

sahkopyora

ENGLAND - One of the most known shops there is London Recumbents as same as Bikefix. Both located in London. They offer wide range of recumbents, trikes and also some cargo bikes and both have nice web pages with a lot of informations.

SCOTLAND - Some of you may not like me if I divide the UK into England and Scotland. But these two parts are so far from each other that it is good to point at Laid Back based in Edinburgh. Till now they sell only recumbents but they already think about trikes as well. They cooperate with The Bicycle Works shop so it is better to call to Laid Back before you want to visit them. It seems that there is also connection between them and Ligfietswinkel in Amsterdam which we mention last time.

SWITZERLAND - Swiss recumbent market is a little bit complicated thanks to duties and other problems around that. Many swiss people buy their recumbents aborad either in Germany or France. But they have some nice shops. Especialy the one in Aarau is specialized in many outdoor sports and is located in building with three floors with lot of stuff inside. We really like it. And the name? Unterwegs.

Next time we will finally show you some very interesting web pages with crazy languages like korean or japanese.

Velomobile for two -finally!

velomobile-for-two

Finally we have found a velomobile for two people siting next to each other. We found that link on a blog of a girl who traveled around in Spain and saw it. Thanks to her post with nice pictures we were able to find also the company which own them and which rent them in Sevilla. We hope to have more informations soon.

It seems that there are only two or three prototypes but with impressive finish. The construction is very unusual but effective with four 26″ wheels. The rear wheels are steered and the chain goes shortly among cranks and front wheel hub.

We are very surprised by the way of moving doors and  the design at all. These velomobiles look really good, but unfornatenuly there are not many informations about them on the web page.

More informations here.
